Peonies I.

Andrea Zvadová
Andrea Zvadová

Peonies are very fragile and have a limited blooming time. They open and bloom into a huge piece of art. They wilt quickly, but there is still so much beauty in their aging and blooming. The peony takes many forms during its life - just like all of us. Some photos from this series capture one and the same bouquet. Over one week, the red and pink colour gradually changed into cream and white. Over time, completely different flowers emerged. The series with peonies was created during the lockdown in London, when the first flower shops finally opened and the whole city was still a kind of oasis of silence, in which only birds could be heard, no cars or humming planes. Through the obstruction of water and focusing on drops that deform the image into microscopic abstract shapes, the author tried to capture this fleeting world of silence, peace and beauty intertwined with the fear of the unknown.
