NALEJTO is a group of three Czech designers: Markéta Kalivodová, Lucie Vostalová a Lenka Záhorková. They were brought together by their passion for porcelain and studies in the same ceramic studio. Together, they design and create mostly pottery for daily use. They are always searching for the right balance between aesthetics and functionality, but they are not afraid to experiment either.
Porcelán spracúvate rôznymi technikami. Ktorá vás baví najviac a prečo?
Veľká časť našich produktov je v podstate postavená na neštandardných technológiách. Každá z nás má svoju obľúbenú, ku ktorej musela prísť a vypiplať si ju do dokonalosti. Markétu momentálne baví prastará sklárska technika ľadovania, Lenka zase tak dlho experimentovala s technológiou odpraskávania horúcim vzduchom, až vznikli kalíšky, misky, ale aj lustre z kolekcie Structure. Lucka zase dlho experimentovala s prastarou technikou ryžového dekoru a zapĺňaním dier rôznych tvarov a veľkostí, až bola schopná túto metódu bez problémov aplikovať na produkty.
Väčšina vašich kúskov vzniká individuálne a stojí za nimi konkrétna autorka. V čom je vaša práca "spoločná" a prečo ste sa rozhodli fungovať ako zoskupenie?
Fungovať ako zoskupenie má, samozrejme, svoje výhody i nevýhody. Za nás výhody stále prevládajú. Naša práca je spoločná predovšetkým práve v experimentovaní s rôznymi technikami a technológiami, pritom sme ale naladené na rovnakú nôtu aj po dizajnovej stránke. Každá teda pracuje na tom „svojom“, ale s obrovskou výhodou, že máme vedľa seba niekoho, s kým môžeme danú vec prebrať. Zároveň sa aj motivujeme a inšpirujeme. A potom si raz za čas sadneme pri víne a vytvoríme kolekciu spoločne – pri ktorej sa musíme zhodnúť všetky a na všetkom.
Ako by ste popísali porcelán niekomu, kto sa s ním nikdy nestretol?
Porcelán je materiál, ktorý vám nič neodpustí. Ak zanedbáte len jedinú, na prvý pohľad zbytočnú časť procesu výroby, či už pri samotnom navrhovaní, modelovaní alebo vzorovaní, porcelán vám to na konci vždy „spočíta“. Veľmi ťažko schováte chyby či nedostatky, ale to je na ňom zároveň i to zábavné a výnimočné – jeho nekompromisnosť.
Čo vás motivuje pokračovať v tvorbe vo chvíľach, keď nejdú veci podľa predstáv?
Väčšinou príde nejaký zaujímavý dopyt alebo napríklad len pozitívna spätná väzba od zákazníka. Tá je asi tou najväčšou motiváciou.
Ako najradšej oddychujete?
Markéta dobíja baterky predovšetkým hraním volejbalu, Lenka je veľmi aktívna – relaxuje pri športe. Lucka zase rada vypne na cestách, pri poznávaní nových miest.

An elegant matte cup handcrafted by NALEJTO. With a capacity of 120 ml, it is an ideal size for morning espresso. The cups are made from pink stoneware which is glazed inside.
