Persona S transparent vase

MILA ZILA
MILA ZILA

Mila Žilková started working on the Personas project a long time ago. The liquid state of molten glass became the inspiration. In production, there is always a part of the product that is a workpiece and another part that is a scrap. Usually, all attention is focused on the workpiece so that it looks exactly like the design and can be replicated. Subsequently, this process is repeated in production which is, of course, correct. However, Mila believes that the beauty can also be found in scraps, because there is no control in their creation and the magic of glass can fully shine. That's where Personas come into play. Each different and unique. In the project, she is looking for the positions of glass as a material that can, with its natural consistency, create a shape that gives it another dimension – its personality. The basis is a simple semi-finished product on which the hot glass is then freely poured and shaped which gives the object a special character. The Persona layer is different from every point of view, constantly changing and evolving throughout our lives.

Fusion crystal vase

Alžbeta Kopisová
Alžbeta Kopisová

The concept of the collection of vases is to find a natural balance in glasswork between free sculpture and meaningful design with a focus on the author's perception and unique handwriting. Vases materialize the physical-biological phenomenon of FUSION – connection and division of cells, expansion and sublimation of liquids. This phenomenon is subsequently transformed architecturally – by a sculptural approach to the material of glass with the added utilitarian function of vase. Each piece is hand-blown by Czech masters, coloured with ruby and then thoroughly polished. With this form of production, there might be subtle flaws in the form of internal bubbles which do not threaten the function and only increase the authenticity of the individual artifacts.

Hope and Possibilities small vase

Patrik Illo
Patrik Illo

Jars decorated with gold are a continuation of the Czech Dream collection where the author worked with crystal cut. A slightly ironic increase in the value with the "hallmark" of exceptionality (gold) is a reaction to cheap and easily replaceable mass products, to which their owners have no relation. By confronting traditional domestic production and alienated machine production, Patrik Illo sarcastically points out the pseudo-luxury and impersonality of the things we use every day.

New Ornamental vase

MILA ZILA
MILA ZILA

The vase is part of a larger project that deals with the possibilities of decorating glass and transfers them to a new position. Ornament is usually created consciously with the aim of beautifying the object in order to increase its attractiveness. There are also various techniques that aim to mask the decay that occurs naturally in production. This project reproduces various unconscious mechanical processes, physical and chemical reactions that randomly arise around us (a scratched floor from shoes, a structure created by scraping a wall, spilled water, oxidation of metals...) and transfers them to objects. NEW ORNAMENTAL objects are decorated with high enamel, which is traditionally in the form of plastic flowers. In this case, it is layered with a spatula and its task is to cover the largest possible surface of the glass. The decor is then complemented by 24-karat gold.
